Job Purpose and Impact

As a Supply Chain Summer Student you will support day-to-day supply chain execution for crop input product lines within a defined geographic area. You’ll help move product from suppliers to retail, support warehousing and freight management, and work on process improvement projects — including automation and data-driven simplification of routine tasks.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support daily supply chain operations for seed and crop production products (order processing, shipment tracking, documentation).
  • Assist customer service by confirming orders, updating customers/retailers, and resolving routine issues.
  • Help monitor warehousing and freight targets (inventory levels, turnaround times, accuracy).
  • Process high-volume transactions accurately using company systems and Excel.
  • Identify repetitive tasks and build or propose automation/efficiency solutions (macros, Power Automate flows, scripts, or AI-assisted tools).
  • Prepare simple analyses, dashboards or reports to inform planners and operations teams.
  • Complete one or more project(s) over the summer focused on workflow simplification, automation, or data cleanup.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada
  • Cargill requires that employees be a minimum of 18 years old
  • Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written)
  • Currently enrolled in university (2nd–4th year undergraduate) or a master’s program.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework or interest in Supply Chain, Logistics, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business, or related fields.
  • Experience with or enthusiasm for automation tools (Power Automate, Power Query, VBA/macros, Python, R) or generative AI tools (ChatGPT, Copilot) to streamline tasks.
  • Proven ability to build simple automations, macros, or data workflows and to document those solutions.
  • Previous exposure to the agriculture industry or distribution environments (co-op, summer work, volunteer).
  • Ability to stay focused under pressure and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize in a high-volume transaction environment.
  • Effective problem-solving, attention to detail, and teamwork skills.
  • Solid computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment (Excel required).
