Job Purpose and Impact
- The Trading Engineer - Ag & Trading assists in designing, developing and maintaining software applications and systems that drive the trading operations. Under close supervision, this job participates in the co-creation and maintenance of sophisticated software applications vital to our trading activities, assisting with conceptualizing, designing and implementing new software features that meet user needs and advance our business objectives, including upgrading existing software by writing clean, efficient and scalable code to improve performance and functionality, and identifying and resolving issues promptly to ensure the seamless operation of the software systems. This job also participates in code reviews to learn knowledge to uphold the standards of excellence.
Key Accountabilities
- TECHNICAL SUPPORT: Monitors live trading systems for optimal performance, including addressing standard real time issues promptly, responding quickly to resolve routine operational problems, minimizing downtime and risk, and performing routine maintenance to keep systems secure and efficient.
- INCIDENT & REQUEST MANAGEMENT: Analyzes assigned incident tickets and user requests.
- REPORT CREATION: Create Crystal Reports or Microsoft PowerBI reports to meet user and business requirements.
- SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT: Design and develop AI-powered applications using GenAI platforms (e.g., Coze). Implement end-to-end solutions including prompt engineering, API integration, and deployment. Assists in designing and implementing robust trading systems, applying appropriate technologies to write clean, efficient and maintainable code.
- COLLABORATION: Collaborates with traders, analysts, and other cross functional teams to gather requirements and deliver needed solutions ensuring technical solutions aligned with business goals, participates in agile practices like standups and sprint planning for effective communication, participates in code reviews to learn and adopt best practices, and helps explain technical concepts clearly to nontechnical team members.
- TESTING & DEBUGGING: Assists in developing comprehensive test plans, including unit and integration tests, to validate functionality and performance, applying debugging skills to help resolve software defects and maintain system integrity, and performing standard testing to ensure the system handles high transaction volumes.
- CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT: Supports continuous improvement of system performance, scalability and reliability to ensure systems evolve with changing needs, staying current with industry trends and best in class standards and proactively suggesting improvements to development processes and tools.
Qualifications
- No minimum years of relevant experience required. Typically reflects 2 years or more of relevant experience.
Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and above, major in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or related.
- Strong command of English (both written and verbal), with the ability to communicate effectively in a professional setting.
- Good skills in programming using C# or Python. Experience in building solutions in trading domain would be preferred.
- Solid understanding of SQL, with capability to construct and troubleshoot complex quires. Experience with Power BI or Crystal Reports would be a plus.
- Understand the basics of generative AI models, with proficiency in “Prompt Engineering” and “RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation)” would be a plus
