Job Purpose and Impact

As a Senior Technical Services Specialist, you will provide expertise, advice and insights to Retail Confectionery customers while helping Cargill’s Cocoa & Chocolate business achieve growth targets. In this role, you will partner with Sales to understand customer needs and strategies and support them with finding the right solutions, recipe development, troubleshooting, and trainings. You will also identify new business development opportunities within existing customers and help develop new customer opportunities. Additionally as the technical subject matter expert on chocolate confections, you will represent Cargill and participate in industry education events, conferences and tradeshows.

Key Accountabilities

  • Partner with cross-functional customer teams to understand business strategy and anticipate the needs of the customer.
  • Provide training, technical support and guidance to retail confectionery customers on understanding and working with Cargill cocoa and chocolate offerings, developing new recipes, troubleshooting in the lab and in production.
  • Collaborate with Cargill teams including sales and marketing, product development and applications, FSQR, commercialization and operations to provide products, finished applications, ingredients, processing expertise, and trainings to customers.
  • Participate as an educator in industry short courses and seminars.
  • Provide tradeshow support by developing new confection recipes and demos to showcase
  • Provide technical guidance in customer contract negotiation, quarterly meetings, strategy development and proposals, as well as positioning and value proposition.
  • Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Deploy the customer channel strategy and ensure all applicable teams are in line to build overall value for the business.
  • Constantly expand knowledge on customers, applications and markets to create innovation ideas for new projects.
  • Assess performance against key criteria for customers with the most significant impact at the business level and grow incremental contribution margin to meet agreed targets.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

This position will be a remote, home-office-based position with travel to customers.  This position could be located anywhere in the United States.  It is preferred to be located near a Cargill facility in the Midwest or East Coast.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR equivalent experience
  • Previous experience translating customer or industry needs into commercial solutions
  • Previous experience utilizing and/or advising customers on lab equipment
  • Minimum of four years of related work experience
  • Ability to travel up to 40%

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Working knowledge of chocolate and finished confections
  • Passion for understanding, creating, and communicating value and solutions to customers and team members
  • Public speaking experience
  • Prior customer facing experience
  • Experience working in the confectionery, bakery and/or snacks category
  • Existing relationships/connections in the retail confection industry

Compensation Data

The expected salary for this position is $100,000.00-130,000.00. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific location, certifications, education, and level of experience. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. This position is eligible for a discretionary incentive award. The incentive award amount is dependent upon company performance and your personal performance.
