Job Purpose and Impact

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for executing maintenance strategies, resource management, and process controls to maintain and improve equipment reliability, asset utilization, and quality standards. This role supports safe and efficient plant operations by ensuring maintenance activities are planned and executed effectively to meet production requirements. The Maintenance Engineer works closely with the production team to prioritize, coordinate, and execute maintenance work, while driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance, equipment availability and cost efficiency.

Key Accountabilities

  • Perform and verify engineering designs for maintenance, repair, and replacement activities through sound calculations, technical analysis, and engineering judgment.
  • Coordinate the implementation of equipment strategies for assets involved in containing, controlling, or safeguarding high-hazard processes.
  • Ensure, establish and enable inventory is kept at proper level, i.e. 1.5% to 2% of Replacement Asset Value (RAV).
  • Prepare and manage the annual repairs and maintenance budget, targeting approximately 3% of RAV and develop operational budgets to monitor performance against approved estimates.
  • Execute specific equipment maintenance for each asset that involved with containing, controlling or safeguarding a high hazard process.
  • Implement, monitor and sustain best maintenance practices to enhance operational effectiveness through continuous improvement and reliability excellence methodologies.
  • Monitor capitalized repair and replacement projects, mitigate risks and remove barriers to ensure milestones are achieved on time and within budget.
  • Develop and manage OPEX and CAPEX budgets while controlling maintenance and repair costs.
  • Collaborate with the Production team and other departments to improve plant capacity, reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure the ongoing mechanical, electrical, and structural integrity of all plant equipment and facilities.
  • Lead and execute effective maintenance planning and scheduling activities.
  • Develop mill improvement plans and oversee the execution of mill maintenance and repair programs.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in maintenance or engineering.
  • Demonstrates high integrity, strong analytical thinking and financial management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment with a strong commitment to safety standards and operational excellence, working knowledge of ISO standards and quality management systems.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem solving, planning, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) principles, with expertise in process safety and construction safety management.
  • Comprehensive understanding of palm oil mill equipment and facilities, including jetties, receiving stations, turbines, utilities, wastewater treatment systems and supporting infrastructure.
  • In-depth knowledge of milling equipment design, installation requirements, operating efficiency ( startup and shutdown procedures, etc.) maintenance strategies and "Management of Change" related of milling.
  • Strong understanding of palm oil milling technologies, Kernel Crushing and Biogas Plant technologies, processes and operational best practices to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable production.
  • Know different "characteristics" of FFB deliveries to optimize/guide optimal efficiencies of actual deliveries.
  • Professional proficiency in written and spoken English.
