Job Purpose and Impact

Trade Execution Lead will coordinate and plan import and export processes, customs documentation, shipping and receiving of foreign merchandise to ensure it arrives at correct time. In this role, you will issue import licenses and complete monetary transactions associated with the import in a timely manner.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure contracts terms are correct upon issuance.  Follow up with signed copy.
  • Responsible for execution of contracts and vessel operational matters.
  • Ensure shipments are carried out in accordance with contractual terms and manage/execute documentation accordingly
  • On pass vessel nomination, ETA and related matters to customers.
  • Liaise with customers on LC issuance, vet through LC and make request for amendment where needed, in order to ensure LCs are operational.
  • Prepare documents instruction in Cargill’s format, based on LC received from customers.
  • Liaise with local regulatory bodies, port authorities, tax and custom offices etc, advise stakeholder e.g. commercial team and Singapore team for changes, once found.
  • Monitor and ensure smooth execution of all matters related to letter of credit and insurance documentation
  • Responsible for appointment of surveyors and shipping agents, where needed as per contracts requirement.
  • Calculate and monitor demurrage, claims and other charges as per contract and charter party (C/P) to avoid /minimize demurrage and/or settle payment with owners/shippers/receivers.
  • Manage customers to ensure timely collection and payment in compliance with contractual terms/conditions. Resolve any payment issues in collaboration with treasury, accounting and merchants.
  • Maintain frequent customer contact with internal and external customers / counterparts
  • Monitor and manage customer relationships via database spreadsheets, benchmarking
  • Follow up with customers on required LOI to discharge cargo in the absence of original BLs.
  • Liaise with traders on open positions, vessels’ loading and other issues pertaining to trading risks
  • Conduct periodic internal audits of trade records and compliance logs.  
  • Mitigate risk/ Cost avoidance / reduction for shipment execution.  
  • Process improvement where needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 (five) years of related work experience and cargo shipments handling.
  • Other minimum qualifications may apply

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Incoterms and International trade and be able to apply to daily operations when required
  • Good knowledge of letter of credit - UCP rules & ISBP, also INCOTERM
  • Knowledge of shipping practices e.g. C/P terms and its relation to sales/purchase of contracts, laytime calculations including demurrage and despatch, C/P B/L requirements, etc including insurance classifications
  • Knowledge on GAFTA and FOSFA rules.
  • Able to prepare full set of shipping documents in accordance with L/C and contractual requirements
  • Able to identify and solve day-to-day problems independently
  • Good understanding of commodity trading will be an added advantage
  • Keen eye for details and meticulous
  • Team player with good inter-personal skills
  • Good analytical and decision making skills
  • Good communication skill and stakeholder management
