Job Purpose and Impact
The Site Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist is a subject matter expert who helps lead the Environmental Health and Safety agenda for site Maintenance tasks, minor projects and capital projects together with the project managers. In this role you will serve as the Contractor Safety Specialist and manage the execution and continuous improvement of the Environmental, Health & Safety and Process Safety management system at a complex Facility (consisting of highly regulated processes/activities) with elevated risk of serious injuries and fatalities, serious environmental events, severe process safety events, or legal matters.
Proactively and with minimal supervision, you will 1) manage the integration, execution and maintenance of Cargill processes, EHS programs and projects; 2) resolve moderately complex, non-routine EHS issues; and 3) help manage the local regulatory relationship to ensure safe operations and compliance with federal, state and local regulations and requirements.
Key Accountabilities
• Support the EHS manager in facilitating the community and governmental interaction and the external reputation.
• Support contractor environmental, health and safety requirements during maintenance activities and project construction phase and help test and evaluate environmental, health and safety performance according to design during project startup phase.
• Partner with regional domain and country environmental, health and safety to support management of site impact assessments, operating permits and construction permits.
• Support suitable training content and delivery mode, in line with global and regional requirements, conduct gap assessment to identify training needs, adjust curriculum to reflect site specific needs and deliver training.
• Partner with key site or project leaders to integrate and operationalize environmental, health and safety programs and drive culture of safety, compliance and continuous improvement.
• Understand, localize and integrate company and legally required work processes, programs and controls into site level operating procedures, tools and work instructions to standardize front line processes and monitor, analyze and adjust for improved performance.
• Ensure strong alignment of goals, metrics and targets with plant vision and targets and govern site performance targets together with plant and site leadership team and consult on planning, issue and incident response and operational environment, health and safety and process safety compliance.
• Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
• Understand, implement and execute environmental, health and safety controls and programs and EHS work processes (risk identification & assessment, emergency action planning and incident management, Agency inspections, Audit and internal inspections). Ensure they work as intended, are integrated in common operational work processes, demonstrate compliance and monitor performance against goals.

- Work schedule: Dayshift M-F and Flexibility to work nights weekends and holidays as needed
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum requirement of 2 years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic business acumen and the ability to partner and communicate effectively with business counterparts
- Posses or working towards relevant professional certifications
- Knowledge of food safety industry practices and standards
- Working knowledge of Human Organizational Performance
- Basic Process Safety and Environmental acumen
- Strong scientific and mathematical knowledge
- Confirmed ability to deliver processes effectively to optimize business resources
