This position is in Cargill’s protein and salt business, where we provide wholesome, high-quality food products to a wide range of customers, from foodservice operators and grocery stores to manufacturers and exporters.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Cut, trim, and otherwise prepare standard cuts of meat for sale at self-serve counters or according to customer's orders
  • Grind meats using powered grinders and slicing machines
  • Shape, lace and tie roasts and other meats
  • Manage inventory, determine amount, product line and freshness of products according to company and customer requirements
  • Ensure food storage conditions are adequate
  • May supervise other butchers, meat cutters
  • Comfortable working on a cold temperature control environment
  • Operate packaging equipment
  • Styling meat cuts on trace
  • Open and prepare boxes and combos of meat for processing
  • General housekeeping


Required Qualifications

  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada
  • Cargill requires that employees be a minimum of 18 years old
  • Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to 80 lbs and minor twisting safely, with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written)
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays and different shifts with advance notice


Preferred Qualifications:

  • General meat plant experience
  • Experience operating mobile equipment such as forklift
