Job Purpose and Impact

The Controller Country Compliance Turkey is a Senior Finance role, that establishes and leads the implementation of tax and compliance processes to safeguard the organization's assets. This job manages complex tax processes to provide insights for business decision making and recommends performance improvement opportunities to support business growth. This job also partners to drive continuous improvement in statutory and tax processes to standardize and rationalize.

Key Accountabilities

Financial Control and Reporting

  • Oversee accurate financial reporting in line with Turkish Accounting Standards (TMS), IFRS or any other applicable GAAP.
  • Review financial statements and statutory reports for compliance.
  • Monitor currency risks related to the Turkish Lira volatility and stay updated on economic policies (e.g., inflation adjustments).
  • Manage relationships with auditors and regulatory bodies.

Tax

  • Ensure compliance with all Turkish tax laws and filings
  • Manage transfer pricing documentation and local statutory requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to provide guidance on compliance and tax-related issues and manage external service providers for compliance tasks.
  • Manage relationships with local tax authorities.
  • Stay updated with changes in Turkish tax laws and regulations.

Risk Management

  • Identify and mitigate compliance risks related to regulatory and tax breaches.
  • Conduct and support audits and risk assessments to ensure adherence to policies.
  • Mitigate risks related to geopolitical or economic instability.

Internal Controls and Audit

  • Implement and maintain an effective internal controls framework to safeguards company assets and ensure controls are operating effectively
  • Ensure proper record keeping and coordinate the support for audits (internal/external) and regulatory inspections.
  • Lead and coordinate the remediation of external and internal audits findings.

Business Partnership

  • Support the creation of budgets and forecast, including the analysis of variances against actuals.
  • Monitor cash flow, working capital, and financial performance and translate financial metrics into actionable insights that improve decision making, performance and business growth.
  • Support the financial evaluation of mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and joint ventures and other new business development opportunities.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements.

Collaboration

  • Collaborate with senior management in META to develop and execute financial strategies.
  • Build strong relationships with the business, finance and controllership (locally and globally), and other stakeholders.

Team leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small finance team in Turkey.
  • Coordinate in selecting staff to align with current and future needs of the META Compliance and Tax organization.
  • Foster a culture of accountability through fit for purpose performance management, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in Compliance and Tax Management, with a strong understanding of local and international finance and tax regulations.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in finance, tax or accounting roles, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership position.
  • Strong knowledge of TMS, IFRS, and US GAAP.
  • Fluent in Turkish and English
  • Professional certification (e.g. CPA, ACCA, or equivalent).
  • Proficient in accounting software (SAP) and advanced Excel skills.
